These are the questions we’re asked most often about car hire at Auckland airport:
Can you rent a car from both terminals at Auckland airport?
Yes, of course. We’ll collect you in our shuttle.
What do you need to rent a car from Auckland airport?
- We’ll need to see the Driver’s License for each of your intended drivers.
- Your reservation reference, if you’ve booked your car in advance.
- A credit card or debit card for payment.
What type of drivers license do I need to rent a car?
All drivers must have a full driver’s license that is current and valid. If your license is not in English then you must also provide an accredited English translation.

We rent to drivers aged from 21 years. The legal minimum age is 18 years but, for insurance reasons, most companies restrict rentals to 25 years and above.
Will my children need car seats even for a short rental?
Under NZ law all babies and children under 6 years of age must be correctly strapped into an approved child restraint WHENEVER they travel. At Kiwi Car Hire we have approved seats available for hire.
