Queenstown Car Hire

Holey crap! That is what I said as I jumped off one of the worlds largest bungy jumps. It was just a short drive out of Queenstown in my car hire. The travel agent said I could be picked up from my hotel in a bus to be taken to the bungy, but I must say, it was so much more enjoyable driving myself in a rental car. I stopped along the way at some scenic look outs and I had the flexibility to head out to the jump when I felt like it. It was nice not having to run by a schedule. I strongly recommend renting a car and going bungy jumping in Queenstown!

Queenstown is a resort town in the Otago in New Zealand’s South Island.  It is built around an inlet known as Queenstown Bay on Lake Wakatipu.

Queenstown is a premier four season lake and alpine resort and a world renowned travel destination that attracts about 1.9 million visitors each year! Now that’s a lot and impressive!

Here’s a fun fact about Queenstown; Queenstown is accessible by road and air but not by rail. Buses are abundant but there are no trains in Queenstown.

Let me tell you why Queenstown could cater so much people!

Queenstown has many surprises for people who like both adventure and beautiful sceneries. From the town, spectacular views of the majestic mountains such as The Remarkables, Cecil Peak, and Walter Peak can be seen! Now, who would have thought that just by standing in town can be so breath taking?

Mountain biking, skiing, skateboarding, tramping, whitewater rafting, and fly fishing are also some of the best adrenalin pumping activities that Queenstown could offer for you. But for your information, Queenstown is most popular for being an excellent bungy jumping destination! The highest bungy jump in the Southern Hemisphere is located in Queenstown —the Nevis Highwire which is 134 meters or about 45 stories high.

Anyone at any age could have fun. And talking about fun, here’s another fun fact about Queenstown: The oldest person to do bungy jumping in Queenstown, bungy jumped at the Kawarau Bridge Bungy, is 94 years old! See? Extreme adventures don’t need age requirements! Oh before I forget, people over 75 years old can bungy jump in town for free.

Aside from the heart stopping activities, Queenstown also has hostels that will surely make your every minute stay in town a never-ending fun. And for romantic couples, Queenstown is also gaining popularity as a honeymoon destination.

Another fact about Queenstown is that it is one of New Zealand’s wine and cuisine centres. Therefore, the town almost has everything for people who have different interests.

If you’re into taking trips on lakes, then try boarding the TSS Earnslaw in Lake Wakatipu in Queenstown. The TSS Earnslaw is a coal fired steamship that is nearly a hundred years old! Don’t worry, despite its age, the ship is safe and won’t fall apart.

You’ll never get bored in Queenstown! Want to know more about Queenstown? Plan that trip and witness more of why Queenstown is truly deserving of the title “The Adventure Capital of the World”!
